What is direct mail? It is marketing communications delivered directly to a prospective purchaser via the U.S. Postal Service or a private delivery company. This can be in the form of flyers, brochures, sales letters, and postcards.
Sales letters can be tough to write. You can either hire a practiced professional or try writing them yourself. If you want to take a stab at it read some of these tips first.

Make the first sentence a doosy. Most people won’t get beyond
that first sentence and that is where you need to grab them. Make it
relevant but eye catching too.

The second paragraph is the next hurtle. You’ve all heard the
KISS theory? Keep It Simple Stupid. I would add keep it interesting.
The first sentence got them; now start to reel them in slow.

Get to the point. Okay, you have them hooked don’t let them shake
you! If you keep droning on and on they’ll slip the hook and
swim away.
Some of these same principles can be used in other direct mail campaigns. Use pictures and graphics. They can tell a whole story with one shot. Don’t make your direct mailings look like everyone else. If they are doing something good then you might want to one up them with a little tweaking but if their business is so so and you copy them what do you get?
Okay now you have it all ready to go. How do you get it where you want it to go? Get multiple bids. You can do this the hard way, by looking in the phone book or making tons of calls or you can use a service that is set up to do the work for you. Either way research the companies you are thinking about and get all your ducks in a row. Details are so important. You don’t want to get all your bulk mail sent out only to see that a typo in your phone number has all your potential customers calling Nepal.
